Beautiful Bali: Fishes in a Pond

Tirtha Empul Temple is not a new temple, having been built in 926 A.D. during the Warmadewa dynasty. There was an exceptionally big crowd at the temple and you'd think that there was a celebration of sort at the temple. Balinese do celebrate Galungan Day here to commemorate the death of an evil king-  King Mayadenawa, believed to have lived more than a thousand years ago. Indra, the king of Gods in Hindu mythology was responsible for killing the evil king and was also the one who created the spring called Tirtha Empul, the water of which could cure diseases. In one of the pools here, you'd be lucky if you could spot a pair of fish that inhabit there. My friends and I tried to catch a glimpse. While we failed to spot them, I suppose we should be deemed lucky to be there at a spot, so holy and serene...

Don't you feel lucky to be here?
