Beautiful Bali: Simply Ubud!

Seeing terraced paddy fields on the way to Ubud should not come as a surprise. The town, after all is located amongst steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency.  These days, it is said it has become difficult to distinguish the town and the surrounding villages. Don't expect a very big, bustling Ubud though. It is just a quaint, little place with just two long roads, Jalan Monkey Forest and Jalan Hanoman. The main street, Jalan Raya Ubud, runs east-west through the center of the town. You can just walk round town and visit a temple in Ubud Monkey Forest and gawk at crab-eating Macaque monkeys or perhaps, you'd want to watch some cultural dances at the palace, Puri Saren Agung at the intersection of Monkey Forest and Jalan Raya Ubud. Museums like  Museum Puri Lukisan, Museum Neka and Agung Rai Museum of Art abound in Ubud and at night, the town is dimly lit. I remember bringing a torchlight along at the advice of a friend but that was actually not necessary. It was safe to walk round town and the only commotion that we came across was from a drunk white man...

Simply Ubud...There is a palace and a sacred forest reserve here!

Traveling Tip: Walk round town!
