Beautiful Bali: On the Rock

In the distant, as Bette Midler, the American singer once sang, the world looks blue and green. That probably sounds true for this place in Tabanan, Bali some 20 km away from Denpasar. There is no snow capped mountain here no doubt, but there is a rock here which in the distant, may look like a little hill to you,a mound  or a little island even; if the tide has risen. The place may even seem like any other places elsewhere in Bali where the blue sea meets the blue sky  but this is Tanah Lot, one of the must visit places in the island of the Gods. Up on the rock, there is a temple called Pura Tanah Lot where pilgrims flock to. The temple is said to be built by a priest from the 15th-century, Nirartha. The priest had once rested here in one of his journeys and had told some fishermen who bought him gifts to build a shrine on the rock to worship the sea gods. Today, besides pilgrims, many tourists flock here...

Traveling Tip: Go where the pilgrims go!
