P for Phattalung 2 : A Different Bamboo Grove

Phatthalung isn't a city,  just a small, quiet place full of surprises.  At Khuan Khanun some 20 km away, there is a bamboo grove with a difference. Kwanjai Bamboo Garden, named after its owner, Kwanjai Klapsuksai. The privately owned bamboo grove had been transformed into a bustling market which offered local food and products. Even if you're not here to eat, it would be fun to feast your eyes on the food and handicrafts on sale; or else you may find pleasure in listening to some Thai songs belted out by some performers. Also known as Talat Pa Phai Sang Suk market or Bamboo Forest for Happiness Market, environmentalists should be happy indeed to learn that this is an eco-friendly market where  vendors are encouraged to use banana leaves, lotus leaves, coconut shells and bamboo as containers instead of plastics or other man-made materials.

Such a pretty place! It's a shame that people act so selfishly with the wildlife.
