Temple of the Great Relic; that's Wat Mahathat. As it's name implies, here once enshrined relics of the Buddha. Once too, canals and moats surrounded the temple and the religious centre was venue of important royal ceremonies and celebrations. Each year, during the Buddhist festival of Khatina, the Ayutthayan Kings would in a splendid procession, made their way to the temple to make offerings. Today, tourists from all over the world buy tickets to enter the temple ground. Don't forget to take a shot of the Buddha's head that was embedded in the trunk of a tree...
