When Thailand Mourned

Just the other day, there was news of Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn getting hitched with his long-term partner and royal consort. King Vajiralongkorn had inherited the throne from his highly respected father King Bhumibol Adulyadej who died in 2016. When my friends and I visited Hat Yai then, it was obvious the country was in mourning. Life had gone on as usual of course; but there were more black and white clothes on sale than usual. Black and white cloth were also used to adorn the entrance of buildings and the portraits of the revered king were seen in many public places, including shopping malls . In Lee Garden Plaza, well-wishers could even sign a condolence book. Thailand, if I'm not mistaken, mourned officially  for a year.
