Summer Holiday: A Little Village

Fionnphort  is just a little Scottish village with about 45 homes and approximately 100 people; crofting communities who also eke out a living from the sea; fishing for lobsters, crabs and prawns. So, why do visitors from around the world, whatever the weather or seasons,  travel through Glen More from Craignure to the little village? Not solely for the seafood, I'm sure. In Fionnphort, it's great to take a walk to the hills and beaches, of course. Like its name implies, there are great beaches here. ;Fionnphort is White Port in Gaelic; white, being the colour of the sand of the beaches and it is from this principal port of the Ross of Mull too that pilgrims and tourists catch their ferries to Iona or Staffa...
