Ancient City Ayutthaya: West of Chao Phraya

West of Chao Phraya River stands a rather big Buddhist temple, the Khmer style Wat Chaiwatthanaram. The temple was constructed in 1630 by King Prasat Thong as a memorial to his mother. We reached the temple towards evening. Just as we stepped out of our boat, a man came to collect our entrance fee. Then, we were off to explore the temple. The temple has a big compound and even in ruins, it was impressive. Imagine those days before it was looted and destroyed by the Burmese armies!
