Beautiful Bali: A Garden Temple

South of Bali, about 8 km from Ubud, in Mengwi Village lies Taman Ayun Temple. Taman Ayun means Beautiful Garden and indeed there is a beautiful landscaped garden here in the Royal Temple of  Mengwi Empire. The temple was built in 1634 by  a Mengwi Raja or King , I Gusti Agung Putu. Don't expect the grandeur of a big civilization here though. The temple is actually just a little complex, made striking by rows of multi-tiered roofs structures that would perhaps remind you of Chinese pagodas. It was raining when we visited the temple. Even in the rain, you'd have to pay a small fee to walk here, in the garden temple where Royals once thread...

Walk the path of the royals...

Traveling Tip: Walk rain or shine!
