Java Jamboree: Lunch Break in Jakarta

The street leading to Sunda Kelapa was not paved with gold but watch out! Going to and leaving the old port would be a worthwhile experience if you'd keep your eyes open. The street was supposed to be lined with shops selling all sorts of shells, dehydrated turtles, lobsters and everything the seafarer might need. I didn't see all these quaint things but I remember seeing old, dark shops along the way and on our way back, we passed one of the most polluted river I had ever set eyes on. Then, it was already noon and food was more on our mind. We had Nasi Padang in a shop that our guide took us to. Patronising a Nasi Padang shop in Jakarta for a first timer may be a shocking experience. The waiter laid on our table plates and plates of food even before we had started ordering. There were chicken dishes, fish dishes, vegetables, soup and many more food - more than we could eat really and pay for too if we had eaten all. Thanks goodness, customers need just to pay for their picks...

Leaving Sunda Kelapa...

A highly polluted river...

Dishes for you to pick...

There are so many beautiful things on your photos but no one person. Had they a strike that day?

Mostof the time, I'll wait the the people to go away. Some people don't like strangers to photograph them!

I always try and take my photographs minus people as well for the same reason and a lot of what I photograph goes on the Internet and not everyone is happy with that.

There are times when I like people to be in the picture, but they must appear natural, going through their everyday lives but some people don't allow strangers to photograph them.
