Often, I 've heard that a language unites a country. Strangely while North and South Korea speak the same language, that didn't prevent the Korean War from erupting in the1950s. The war resulted in many refugees flocking and settling in Busan's famed Gamcheon Culture Village, otherwise known as South Korea's Lego Village. It was drizzling when my friends and I visited the quaint little village but that didn't prevent us from exploring the steep and narrow streets and taking photographs at every nooks and cranny. There are little shops that offer Korean snacks and tidbits that you may find delight in, shops selling souvenirs, umbrellas and raincoat too if you do need them. Gamcheon's streets are not paved with gold, but gems do abound. An art project launched by its residents treated the streets as canvas, turning them into a haven for both shutterbug and art buffs. Just my kind of place!
