Busan Bout: Visit Gyeongju National Museum

If you want to learn about Korea's Silla Dynasty which ruled the peninsula around  57 BC - AD 935,  visit Gyeongju National Museum. Probably, you'll be glad to know that you won't be charged to enter the museum even though numerous historical and cultural artifacts are housed here. The Korean government was merely trying to encourage the people, locals and tourists alike, to learn and appreciate the Korean history. Nice place to be especially when it's just adjacent to the Gyerim forest, Banwolseong palace, Anapji Pond, Cheomseongdae Observatory as well as a royal tomb complex. Some parts of the royal tomb complex with their big mounds probably reminds of Philippines's Chocolate Hills. The Cheomseongdae Observatory looks rather small, insignificant even; but don't be fooled.  Constructed in the 7th century during the reign of Queen Seondeok, the chimney-shaped structure is said to be the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia and possibly the world. This is reason enough to go ga-ga over it!
