Someone suggested visiting Patthalung one day and a friend started planning. Pattalung in Southern Thailand, isn't really well known compared to Chiang Mai or Bangkok in the north even though it had once been designated as one of the twelve royal cities in Thailand. Nevertheless it was attractive to us who visited Hat Yai so often and wanted to get something different. When a friend found out that the little town was just a two hour drive away from Hat Yai, we decided to take a train to the city in March and from there, hired a van on a one day trip to Patthalung. Indeed, there were surprises!
