Visiting Vietnam: Down by the Station

What's there to see at the railway station?  In my hometown, Taiping which boasted the first railway line in the country; the old station still stands today and I don't remember seeing tourists flocking there. Dalat Railway Station in Vietnam, however is different. My friends and I were ushered there. French architects Moncet and Reveron gave the 1932 building a unique touch, incorporating an Art Deco theme with elements of native Cao Nguyen communal houses from Vietnam's Central Highlands. Tourists could enjoy a cuppa at the coffee shop here, buy gifts, have a portrait drawn or take a short ride in a Vietnamese train to Trai Mat.
