Langkawi Trip: Opting for a Cable Car Ride

Makam Mahsuri; Tomb of  the legendary Malay beauty Mahsuri who lived in Langkawi Island more than seven generations ago was located in Mawat, not very far away from where we stayed. Our tour guide thus made that our first stop on the second day of our trip to the island. Then, we were too early and the ticket counter wasn't open yet. When many of the youngsters we were traveling with made it be known that they preferred to take a ride in a cable car, our guide directed the bus driver to move on to Pantai Kok instead. Then, we arrived at a big, empty parking lot. We got down from the bus and I told our lady guide that I had taken a cable car in the island a long time ago in a place called Oriental Village. This is Oriental Village, she said and I was surprised. The place didn't look familiar...
