Langkawi Trip: Just When the Sun Set

Dataran Lang or Eagle Square in Kuah is a place where tourists flock to in Pulau Langkawi. Langkawi’s name came from two Malay words helang and kawi which means eagle and reddish brown; so, there's a 12 metre-tall statue of a reddish brown eagle at the square which visitors could see when their ferry approaches the island. The square is just adjacent to the CHOGM Park and Taman Lagenda Dalam; and is within walking distance to some of the best duty-free shops in Langkawi and the Jetty Point Mall. I have been to the square many years back and since then, there had been new addition of miniature fountains, terraces and bridges. The eagle seemed to be nearer the sea now and we had gone there to watch the sunset. Our tour leader ushered us back just when the sun was about to set. He was rushing us to dinner!
