Thale Noi in Thai means little sea. Thale Noi is in fact a lake and as the name suggests, a big one too. It is actually one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in South East Asia, a must visit place in laid back Phattalung especially for nature lovers. Personally, I have visited the place three times but wasn't impressed with the place during the first two trips. That was merely because I didn't get to sit on the long-tail boat that visitors can hire to take them to the heart of the lake and beyond. Standing at the bank, I remember seeing just a wide expanse of water but sitting on the boat, besides it being thrilling, opened up a new world. As the boat slowly steers its way from the bank, you may not pay much attention to the few pink water lilies that you pass by; but lo, suddenly you would find yourself nestled in a millions of pink water lilies!
