Krabi!: Getting Wet in Krabi

Krabi may be the main town and the capital of Krabi province but it's neither big nor bustling ala Bangkok. It is laid back and that perhaps lies its charm. People probably come here for some quietness and to relax; to swim, snorkel, kayak, snorkel, scuba dive, fish, sunbathe or hike. The quiet and laid back Krabi actually hides a beautiful world untouched by progress. There is a number of lovely islands on Krabi coastline facing the Andaman Sea such as Koh Hong, Phi Phi islands, Koh Poda, Koh Kai as well as Koh Tup and Koh Mor. There probably are a hundred more islands there; but our itinerary didn't include a trip to any of the islands. While there however, I had thought we were taken to an island. We took a ride on a boat to a beautiful beach where we spent most of our time getting wet, swimming or just immersing ourselves in the sea water which was Railay Beach. Railay Beach is actually a small peninsula on the mainland which is only accessible by boat. On its east was a little cave Phra Nang (Princess) Cave which I suppose isn't noted for its stalactites or stalagmites formation but more for the many symbolic phalluses of Shiva. Local fishermen are known to make offerings here before going out to sea.
