P for Phattalung 2 : More of Thale Noi Lake

Several time I come across Thale Noi Lake described as a lotus lake. Nevertheless, there are many more lilies here than lotuses. There are the usual pink lotus as well as white ones but these are not as many as the pink lillies; we managed to see just the former occupying a small area; perhaps slightly bigger than the average football field. Then where there are no lotuses or lillies, the lake may be green, covered by some floating aquatic macrophytes peculiar to the area. Watch carefully and you may spot a bird or two there, maybe even more  Thale Noi which is declared a non-hunting area is indeed an interesting wetland with diverse habitats sporting different flora and fauna. As for birds alone, the lake serves not just as a habitat but also a breeding ground for over 180 types of native and migratory birds . Bird watchers could possibly spend a whole year here!
