Cần Thơ and Mỹ Tho are two different cities in Vietnam definitely; but first time visitor like me found it difficult to see them as two separate places even though they are slightly over 2 hr or 107.2 km apart. People go to Mỹ Tho for boat rides but since Cần Thơ is noted for its floating markets, going for boat rides is inevitable in Cần Thơ too; which incidentally is not just Vietnam's fourth-largest city but also the largest city along the Mekong Delta region. Exploring the Mekong Delta probably means visiting the two cities but to get to Mỹ Tho, one probably has to get to Cần Thơ first. My friends and I had ended up in Cần Thơ in the early evening and after checking into our little hotel, we had quickly adjourned to the restaurant next door to have dinner before finally hitting the streets. Cần Thơ wasn't bustling like in Ho Chi Minh; but somewhere we were attracted by crowds of young people sitting on low rattan chairs, chatting and enjoying a cuppa and each other's company...
