Long before Bang Rajan, I 've heard of Ayutthaya, Thailand's ancient capital. Bang Rajan, of course, is the acclaimed Thai movie, starring Nang Nak's star, Winai Kraibutr. While Nang Nak is a romantic ghost story, Bang Rajan is a period piece about the efforts put in by a group of villagers in their attempt to protect Ayutthaya from the invading Burmese army. Ayutthaya still stands today and boasts of old palaces and temples, some in ruins... 1
