I've visited a pink city, Jaipur in India. Malaysia's Malacca, I presume is red. Red because the Dutch built not just Christ Church but also the Stadthuys and a series of of Dutch shophouses and administrative buildings after they took possession of the city from the Portuguese. Christ Church is a brick-red building with imported granite brick floor and stands just opposite the Stadthuys. It was built in 1753 not just to celebrate a century of Dutch occupation but also to provide a place of worship. The Stadthuys or town hall was built soon after Malacca was captured and it was modelled after a town hall in Hoorn in the Netherlands. Getting to this supposedly oldest Dutch building in the Orient was easy. We just had to walk to the famous Jonker street from our hotel and cross the bridge to join the crowd of tourists...
