Meet Malacca: Hot Day Out

In the tropics, the afternoon is certainly hot. You may want to laze about at home under the swirling fan or in the comfort of an air conditioner but when in Malacca, if you don't make regular trips there, make a point then to take a stroll in Jonker Street. Nevermind the hot, humid weather.  Indulge not just in the architecture of the ancient houses of worships, shops  or clan houses, eye also for bargain souvenirs like T-shirts, wooden Chinese clogs and other handicrafts. And if you feel that the weather is getting a bit too hot, just pop into an eating shop to chill out,  savouring  some sweet desserts perhaps, cendol, the sweet dessert that contains green rice flour jelly coconut milk and palm sugar syrup and enjoy perhaps, some Nyonya curry laksa. Some of these eating places have interesting exhibits but if it is authentic museum you are seeking for, you may just pop into a nyonya baba museum. There is one which was used as the set for the 2008 Singapore's hit drama Little Nyonya 小娘惹. Interesting place!
