Summer Holiday: Museum in Skye

Six miles north of Uig, and 18 miles north of Portree,  on a hillside close to the tip of Skye's Trotternish Peninsula stands the award-winning Skye Museum of Island Life. It was quiet and seemingly deserted while we were there and perhaps that was the way things were in an old Highland village a hundred years ago for that's what the museum is for; to give insight into the old disappearing way of life in the highlands at the close of the 1800s. Consisting of several thatched cottages, some being furnished and equipped to illustrate different aspects of island life, the museum is supposed to represent a township; small one, that I was certain.
