Summer Holiday: On Location

The sky was gloomy, the air crisp the day our van pulled to a stop at the visitor center at Glenfinnan, a hamlet in hamlet in Lochaber area of the Highlands of Scotland. Across the road, what looked like rushes bearing little yellow flowers prevailed and we could see Glenfinnan Monument and Loch Shiel. There was a little hill nearby which we climbed to view Glenfinnan Viaduct. Glenfinnan Monument is an 18 metre high tower built to commemorate the Jacobite rising which began here In 1745. Glenfinnan Viaduct is a 30 m high railway viaduct spanning 15 m with 21 arches built entirely out of concrete. It's a popular location for filming films and television series including four Harry Potter films. From where we were, the viaduct looked rather small.
