Krabi! : Big Fish

Besides islands and beaches where one could go rock climbing, snorkeling, diving, swimming or simply lazing under the sun; nature lovers would love to know that there is the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park to contend with. There's the Emerald Pool there, said to contain shimmering blue-green waters. While we were invited to a day trip to the pool and a few other places at extra cost, we had opted not to as it had drizzled so often that we had thought that it would be time and money wasted. Instead we decided to hire a cab on our own and thus ended up in Krabi Coastal Fisheries Research And Development Center at Amphoe Mueang which is few minutes away from the Ao Nam Mao pier. The center didn't look very inspiring; a run-down building held  dozens of aquariums inside and one could walk around its compound to view more fishes in its outdoor ponds. The center supposedly opened in 2000, and seven varieties of native clownfish were supposed to be exhibited there; but I think we were more awed by the big, colourful artificial fishes in its compound!
