Krabi! : Sculptured Stories

Hold Me Close,  a sculpture designed by the world-renowned French artist, Louise Bourgeois used to attract tourists who visited Noppharat Thara Beach in tambon Ao Nang of Muang district in Krabi. The sculpture probably wasn't there while we were there in Krabi; it, having been sent to Bangkok and then forgotten. Then, there are other sculptures that equally attract. I remember a big sculptured mud crab near a river. There were restaurants near it; offering seafood; crabs, I suppose; but we had stopped there just to take photographs of the giant crab. A bronze swordfish near Ao Nang Beach was a later addition. When you pose for photographs there, you may get immersed and think you are one of the locals who had a hand in snaring the giant fish. While the Hold Me Close sculpture commemorate the 2004 tsunami tragedy, the sculpture of the giant swordfish commemorates an outstanding big catch off Phi Phi Island by the locals.
