Dream of Redlands : Museum in the Western Hill

When in the Western Hills, it is a shame not to visit the Dragon Gate. Dragon Gate is not a gate itself but consists of the Sanqing Temple Complex and the Dragon Gate Grotto Complex. It probably takes time to explore the area and I suppose I missed all that, visiting the Longmen Grottoes, said to be the largest Taoist grottoes in Yunnan and took 72 years to build; so, it is no wonder visitors have to buy a ticket at its grand entrance. Nearby,  there was an art museum which we walked into and indulged in, posing with paintings of Chairman Mao, Chou En Lai, Deng Xiao Ping and even Winston Churchill and Stalin. Other exhibits include Chinese paintings and calligraphy, photographs as well as sculptures. We thought we were lucky since it was the first day the museum was opened and admission then was free.
