Summer Holiday : Exploring Edinburgh

Having been the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century; needless to say, Edinburgh is a place worthwhile exploring. There is the medieval Old Town with its unique architecture; and the elegant Georgian New Town which since not exactly a new addition, understandbly is a UNESCO World Heritage site just like its old counterpart. A day probably would be enough for an introductory walkng tour but you probably would want more time lapping up its past glories, visiting museums, galleries,  religious buildings, castles and all. Maybe then, it would be fine organising your visit into different walking tours like a walking  tour just to the old town one day and the new town the next, taking time to laze in some of their famous squares or streets like  Charlotte Square, St Andrew Square, Cowgate Street, Princes Street etc. Perhaps, you may consider walking tours specifically to religious buildings, castles, museums or galleries alone, choosing to spend more time in places you fancy, St Giles’ Cathedral perhaps or the magnificent Edinburgh Castle. Then, the bookworm in you would just settle for a literary trail. Edinburgh has been home to many great writers  among them Robert Burns, Robert Louis Stevenson, and J.K. Rowling. J.K. Rowling of course, should be considered a new addition.
