Getting to Dongchuan's Redlands 东川红土地 in China; to the uninitiated would sound like one long arduous journey. Now, the place is said to be over 200 km away from Kunming City and reportedly, a public coach from there would take at least 5 hours. For my friends and I, we hired a van. There were unexpected sights to be seen on the way, soothing green valleys bounded by rugged, green mountains; and there was even the convenience of stopping to take a photo or to take a bite of local fruits or barbecued tapioca, potatoes, maize or even chillies offered by roadside hawkers.
