At Nam Yen cave, there was a déjà vu feeling. Years back, a friend had driven us to Trang and I remember we had stopped here and a boatman had asked if we would like to hire a boat. Not knowing much about the place and thinking it was just a normal boating trip, we had declined and had left the place hastily. Now, I would think taking a boat here is a must for visitors to Phattalung. Nam Yen cave isn't as big as some caves which we had visited in China or Malaysia. There are interesting stalactites and stalagmites to be seen; some gleamed in the spotlight but the journey on a boat through the cave was truly a delightful adventure. It wasn't the same like boating in New Zealand's Waitomo Caves when one can sit or stand comfortably as one view the glowing worms; here some parts are so narrow, and the ceilings so low that one has to lie low in order to proceed. It was fun exploring the cave with a big bunch of friends and at such moments, one tends to forget that heavy rains may flood the cave and cut out the outside world...
