Khao Yai is a town? Khao Yai said to be Thai for big mountain isn't quite like the city that Hat Yai is; nor is it like the little town of Krabi where at least one could see shops lining a street and there's the usual flurry of activities typical of such a place. The first time my friends and I visited Khao Yai was after our visit to Ayutthaya. Then, we had taken a cab to Nakhon Ratchasima Province otherwise known as Khorat in the north eastern part of Thailand; for that's where Kha itio Yai is located. The journey was long and I remember the tourist spot to be a cool big green piece of land dotted sporadically with man-made structures to cater for tourists. We didn't see much then and had make a pact to return, checking into an airport In Bangkok a year later in the late afternoon, grabbing a bite there before being whisked off to where else - Khao Yai, yet again!
